About Flashcard & Quiz Maker
Flashcard & Quiz Maker is a free, browser-based study app that turns your notes into flashcards and then drills them with spaced repetition and quizzes. Paste notes — "Term: definition" or "X is Y" lines become Q&A cards and other lines become fill-in-the-blank — or, with local AI enabled, generate Q&A pairs from prose. It schedules reviews with the FSRS v6 algorithm (via ts-fsrs), saves your decks and progress in your browser's localStorage, and exports to CSV for Anki or Quizlet. Everything runs locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded and there's no signup.
How to use Flashcard & Quiz Maker
- In the Build tab, paste your notes (one idea per line) — or click Sample to load an example.
- Click 'Make flashcards' to parse them into cards, or 'Add Q&A with AI' if you have local AI enabled; cards are added to the active deck (create one with 'New deck').
- Open the Cards tab to edit card fronts/backs, shuffle, delete cards, or export with 'Copy CSV' / download CSV for Anki and Quizlet.
- Switch to Study to review cards that are due: optionally type your answer, click 'Show answer', then rate recall with Again, Hard, Good, or Easy to set the next FSRS interval.
- Use the Quiz tab (needs at least 3 cards) to test yourself with 'Type the answer' or 'Multiple choice', and optionally count results toward your review schedule.
Frequently asked questions
- Are my notes or flashcards uploaded to a server?
- No. Everything runs entirely in your browser — your decks, study progress, and FSRS schedules are saved locally in localStorage, and nothing is uploaded or synced anywhere.
- Is it free and do I need an account?
- Yes, it's completely free with no signup, account, or watermark.
- How does it turn my notes into flashcards?
- A built-in parser converts lines written as "Term: definition" or "X is Y" into question/answer cards, and turns other sentences into fill-in-the-blank cards. If you enable local AI, the 'Add Q&A with AI' button can also generate Q&A pairs from free-form prose.
- What spaced-repetition algorithm does it use?
- It uses FSRS v6 via the ts-fsrs library. In Study mode you rate each card Again, Hard, Good, or Easy, and FSRS schedules the next review for the moment you're about to forget it — the buttons preview each resulting interval.
- Can I export my cards to Anki or Quizlet?
- Yes. In the Cards tab you can copy or download a CSV of front, back pairs, which imports into Anki, Quizlet, and similar apps.
- Why can't I start a multiple-choice quiz?
- Quizzes require at least 3 cards in the deck, and multiple-choice additionally needs enough distinct answers to build options. If there aren't enough, use 'Type the answer' mode instead. You can also choose whether quiz results update your FSRS review schedule (correct counts as Good, wrong as Again).
