About Add Watermark to Video
Add Watermark to Video stamps your own logo or text onto a video entirely in your browser — the file is decoded, watermarked frame by frame, and re-encoded on your device using the browser's own WebCodecs, so nothing is ever uploaded. Drop in a PNG, SVG or JPG logo (transparency is preserved) or type text, place it with a 9-position grid, tune size, opacity and edge margin with a live preview, or tile it diagonally across the whole frame to deter cropping. It exports MP4 or WebM with the audio track copied untouched, and unlike most free watermark tools it never adds its own branding to your video.
How to use Add Watermark to Video
- Drop or choose a video (MP4, WebM, MOV, MKV or MPEG-TS, up to 2 GB) — it is read locally and never uploaded.
- Pick the watermark type: upload an image/logo (PNG or SVG with transparency works best) or switch to Text and type your mark, choosing its color.
- Place it with the 9-position grid and tune the Size, Opacity and Margin sliders — the live preview shows the exact result; press Play to check it over motion.
- Optionally turn on 'Tile across video' to repeat the mark diagonally across the whole frame at half opacity — the strongest protection against cropping.
- Choose MP4 or WebM and click 'Add watermark & export'; watch the progress bar (you can cancel anytime), then save the finished file.
Frequently asked questions
- Is my video uploaded to a server?
- No. The video is decoded, watermarked and re-encoded entirely in your browser using the browser's own WebCodecs — it never leaves your device, and there is no signup or file limit beyond the 2 GB input cap.
- Does ToolsDeck add its own watermark to my video?
- No — never. The only mark on the exported video is the logo or text YOU choose. We never brand user files, so this also works to watermark videos with your own branding for clients or social media.
- Can I use a transparent PNG logo?
- Yes — PNG and SVG transparency is fully preserved, so only the visible pixels of your logo are stamped onto the frame. A transparent-background PNG or SVG is the recommended format for a clean result.
- What size and opacity should a watermark be?
- A good starting point is the default: about 18% of the video width at 70% opacity, in a corner with a small margin. Big enough to read at YouTube sizes but subtle enough not to distract; drop to 40-50% opacity for a more discreet mark.
- How do I stop people cropping my watermark out?
- Turn on 'Tile across video'. It repeats your mark in a rotated diagonal pattern across the entire frame at half opacity, so it can't be cropped or blurred away without destroying the footage — the standard approach for preview or proof copies.
