About .ics Calendar Event Generator

The ICS Calendar Event Generator is a free, browser-based tool that turns event details into a downloadable RFC 5545 .ics file you can import into Apple Calendar, Outlook, Google Calendar, and other apps. Set a title, date, time, IANA timezone, recurrence, a reminder alarm, and organizer, then download the standards-compliant file or open a prefilled Google Calendar link. Everything is built locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded, and no signup is required.

How to use .ics Calendar Event Generator

  1. Enter a title (required) plus optional description, location, and URL.
  2. Set the start and end date and time, or flip on 'All-day event'; for timed events pick a timezone (e.g. America/New_York, Europe/London).
  3. Choose a recurrence — None, Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly — to add an RRULE.
  4. Optionally set a reminder before the event (a bare number is minutes, or use 30m, 1h, 2d) and add an organizer name and email.
  5. Check the live .ics preview, then click 'Download .ics' to save the file, or 'Add to Google Calendar' to open a prefilled event.

Frequently asked questions

Is it free, and do I need an account?
Yes, it is completely free with no signup. There are no accounts, watermarks, or usage limits.
Are my event details uploaded to a server?
No. The .ics file is generated entirely in your browser using JavaScript, so your event details never leave your device. The only exception is the optional 'Add to Google Calendar' button, which opens a Google link in a new tab when you click it.
Which calendar apps can open the file?
Any app that supports the .ics standard, including Apple Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, Google Calendar, and Thunderbird. The file is RFC 5545 compliant (VCALENDAR VERSION 2.0) with properly escaped text and 75-octet line folding.
Does it handle timezones and daylight saving correctly?
Yes. For timed, non-UTC events it embeds a VTIMEZONE block with the correct TZID, so the event lands at the right local hour in any calendar app. You can choose from 12 common IANA zones such as UTC, America/Los_Angeles, Asia/Kolkata, and Australia/Sydney.
Can I add recurring events and reminders?
Yes. Recurrence supports Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly via an RRULE, and you can add a DISPLAY reminder using minutes or units like 30m, 1h, or 2d, which is written as a VALARM trigger.
Can I invite attendees or RSVP through this tool?
No. It creates a single-event file with an optional organizer name and email, but it does not add ATTENDEE entries, send invites, or manage RSVPs. Recurrence is limited to a frequency (no count, end date, or weekday rules).
