About ID & Profile Photo Maker

ID & Profile Photo Maker turns a head-and-shoulders selfie into a passport, visa, or profile photo with a clean solid-color background, correctly sized and cropped. It removes the original background on-device using MediaPipe selfie segmentation, then renders your subject onto a chosen background color and downloads a PNG at one of five preset sizes (US Passport 2×2″, Schengen visa 35×45mm, square profile, LinkedIn 400×400, or 3:4 portrait). Use it when you need an official ID or a clean headshot without a studio. Everything runs locally in your browser — your photo is never uploaded and there is no signup.

How to use ID & Profile Photo Maker

  1. Drop a head-and-shoulders photo onto the upload area (or click to choose) — any background works since it gets replaced. Accepts PNG, JPG, WebP and other image types.
  2. Wait a moment while the background is removed on-device; the cutout appears in the editor.
  3. Pick a Size preset: US Passport 2×2″, Schengen visa 35×45mm, Profile (square), LinkedIn 400×400, or Portrait 3:4.
  4. Choose a Background color — White, Light blue, Light gray, Off-white, or a custom color via the color picker.
  5. Position the head against the dotted guide: drag to pan, scroll/pinch or use the Zoom slider, and use the Nudge arrows; press Re-fit to auto-align the crown, chin, and eye lines.
  6. Click 'Download PNG' to save the finished photo, or 'Print' for a guide-free printed copy. Use 'New photo' to start over.

Frequently asked questions

Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. The photo is read, background-removed, cropped, and exported entirely in your browser using on-device MediaPipe selfie segmentation — nothing is ever uploaded.
Is it free and do I need an account?
Yes, it is completely free with no signup, account, or watermark.
What sizes and presets does it support?
Five presets: US Passport 2×2″ (600×600), Schengen visa 35×45mm (413×531), Profile square (512×512), LinkedIn 400×400, and Portrait 3:4 (600×800). The exported PNG is named after the chosen size, e.g. id-photo-600x600.png.
How do I line the head up correctly for a passport?
Turn on the Guide and align the head between the dotted crown and chin lines with the eyes on the middle line. For a US passport, the head (chin to crown) should fill 50–69% of the frame height; drag, zoom, nudge, or hit Re-fit to match the guide.
Can I pick the background color?
Yes. Choose from White, Light blue, Light gray, or Off-white swatches, or set any custom color with the color picker. US passports require a white or off-white background.
Why does it say it can't find a subject, or fails to process?
Background removal works best on a well-lit, front-facing head-and-shoulders portrait — group shots, full-body, or tightly cropped images may not isolate cleanly. Very large images are also rejected up front to avoid freezing the tab; try another shot or position it manually with zoom and pan. Always check your authority's official rules, as some require an unedited photo.
