How to use Office Metadata Stripper

Which metadata is always removed versus optional?

Author (creator), last-modified-by, company, manager, last-printed, revision (reset to 1), and total editing time (reset to 0) are always cleared. Title, subject, keywords, description, category, and the created/modified timestamps are only cleared if you turn on their optional toggles.

Does stripping the metadata change my document's content?

No. The tool only rewrites the docProps/core.xml and docProps/app.xml metadata parts; every other part of the file is copied over byte-for-byte, so your text, formatting, and data stay exactly as they were.

Is there a file size limit?

Yes, files up to 50 MB each are accepted. Larger files are rejected before they're read, since real Office documents are rarely that big.
