About Life Calendar — Your Life in Weeks
The Life Calendar draws your whole life as a grid where each square is one week (or month, or year) of a roughly 90-year life — the squares you've already lived are filled in, this week glows, and the rest are still ahead. Inspired by the 'Your Life in Weeks' idea, it's a quietly powerful way to see how your time is actually spent and how much is left. Enter your birthday and it computes your exact age, the weeks you've lived, the percentage of your life so far, and the weeks remaining, then renders the grid on a canvas you can download as a shareable PNG. Everything runs on your device — your birthday is stored only in your own browser and is never uploaded.
How to use Life Calendar — Your Life in Weeks
- Enter your birthday — it's saved only in your browser (local storage), never sent anywhere.
- Choose what each square represents: a week (the classic ~4,680-square view), a month, or a year.
- Optionally adjust the life-expectancy slider to change how many squares the grid holds.
- Read your stats: exact age, squares lived, the percentage of your life so far, and how many squares remain.
- Edit the title and toggle the caption, then click Download PNG to save a shareable image of your life calendar.
Frequently asked questions
- What is a life calendar / 'life in weeks'?
- It's a grid with one cell for every week of a typical life (about 52 weeks × 90 years ≈ 4,680 cells). Filling in the weeks you've already lived makes the finite, surprisingly countable nature of a lifetime visible at a glance — a gentle memento mori popularized by Tim Urban's 'Your Life in Weeks'.
- Is my birthday sent to a server?
- No. Your birthday is stored only in your browser's local storage and every calculation and the rendered image are produced on your device. Nothing is uploaded, and there's no account.
- Can I download or share my life calendar?
- Yes — the grid is drawn on a canvas and you can export it as a PNG with one click, with an optional title and caption, ready to share or set as a wallpaper.
- Can I see it in months or years instead of weeks?
- Yes. Switch between weeks, months and years — weeks is the iconic dense view, while months and years give a calmer, higher-level picture of the same life.
- What life expectancy does it use?
- It defaults to 90 years and you can move the slider between 60 and 100. The number only sets how many future squares are drawn; the squares you've lived are computed from your real birthday.
